Well, I'm into it five days now. So far the hardest time I am having is with eating too many carbs and too much sodium. It seems I go over these every day and I have trouble getting enough potassium in a day even with my multi vitamins and potassium supplement! It's frustrating.
I have also been planning my lunches and snacks at work. I'm doing great with the snacks and getting lots of fresh veggies. I also eat my lunch, same thing every day, without a problem. However, when it comes to lunch time I lose all control. Do I want to go out to lunch? Or do I want to stay in for lunch? Do I want to eat the food I brought to prepare? Or do I want to go have a grilled shrimp sandwich at Baba Ganoush???? Well, which one did you think I picked??
How do I get myself to stick with what I brought for lunch? One thing I find that is easier to say to myself is that i get one day a week to go out and about for lunch. One day, that's it. So when I choose that day it better be a good one! Stan caters our lunches on Thursday, but I find that if I use that as my one day out I feel like I've been cooped up inside the office too long. This makes me crazy! And it has been too cold outside during the day to get out and about and walk, when it's not raining that is. I know I need to get out or I go crazy. I also maybe need to bring myself more options for lunch. More things to choose from instead of restricting myself to the one thing I brought to work that day. This is definitely a work in progress and I will have to find what process and routine works best for me. Planning my lunch for the week has worked somewhat over the last three weeks. I have maybe eaten two of the four planned days consistently, one day is given to going out with coworkers, one day is given to Stan's catering, and that other day just doesn't seem to happen at all. Something to think about.
It is also something to think about as far as what I am going to do to make myself get out when I bring my lunch to work instead of sitting at my desk and not taking a lunch at all. I will try to may a route to walk around the office when the weather is nice. That only leaves me to figure out what to do with my time when the weather is not nice....
Definitely things to think about.
