Wii EA Sports Active 2 9 Week Challenge

I received the Sports Active 2 game from Santa in 2010.  This page will be my updates on how that is going....

ARRRRGGGHHHH!!!!! So one of my favorite points of this blog is that you can print it out into books to have and to hold forever, but it won't print the different pages that I have on the blog.  So, I'm sticking it all in here so that it shows up and I guess I will do posts in the future.....

February 15, 2011
Had another good workout today with my friends the mountain climbers...

February 14, 2011
Back on track with my first Phase 3 workout.  It was kicking butt and taking names, but I made it with flying colors.

February 13, 2011
Today I had to get some strength training done and it was an off day from my 9 week challenge workouts.  I did take the dog on his one mile walk today with TomTom on his bike.

February 12, 2011
I didn't do anything today that required strenuous exercise, and I loved every bit of it!

February 11, 2011
Today I had to get some strength training done, but no scheduled Sports Active workouts.

February 10, 2011
Today was the last workout of phase 2 and I have stepped into Phase 3!  A huge achievement for myself. Today they tackled me with many sets of Mountain Climbers, Skipping and Stride Jumps.

Some issues I'm having:
My heartrate monitor is sporadic and doesn't always seem to be consistent with what I am feeling.
It doesn't track my kick ups because when I am doing them fast, my icon on the Wii is barely moving.

February 9, 2011
Arrrgggghhh!!!! I woke up late again today!  I did my workout and managed to not be too late for work, just about five minutes or so.  I wasn't really in the mood for doing it today, but I powered on and got it done.  I also had to do my strength training at sparkpeople so I did that customized warm up/cool down routine I created too.

February 8, 2011
I woke up around the regular time today and you'll never guess what was waiting for me in my workout!  Those dang mountain climbers!  However, I made it through them and I think it was easy (she whispers because I don't want the Wii to hear me).  I mean I am still getting a workout and sweating my butt off (I hope)!  But it was actually bearable to do the exercise today and I feel I was more able to concentrate on my form.  I felt like I have improved!!!!

February 7, 2011
Today I overslept and woke up at 630 AM with no alarm chiming at me!  It was late, but I did my workout because I didn't want to get out of the routine.  I need to wake up on time!

February 6, 2011
Another off day from EA Sports Active.  I walked the dog on our one mile route with Thomas in the evening.  I also did my strength training from sparkpeople.com.  This included the custom warm up/cool down routine I made on Sports Active...

February 5, 2011
This is my 100% off day from EA Sports Active.  However, with my sparkpeople goals I did take the dog for a one mile walk that afternoon.

February 4, 2011
Today I had to do strength training for my sparkpeople.com fitness.  I've created a custom workout with the EA Sports Active with my favorite warm up and cool down exercises.  What I do is play the warm up then pause the Wii.  Then I do the strength training exercises as supplied by sparkpeople.com.  Then I go back to the Wii and do the cool down exercises.  Today was an off day so that was all I did besides walking the dog up and down my street a few times this night.

February 3, 2011
Lord help me!  This morning my workout grouped together stride jumps (55), foot fires (180), and skipping (45) and if that wasn't bad enough it grouped them together in three different sets.  I kept saying "I can do this!"  I had to take pauses, and got angry because it wasn't counting the actual jumps I do when skipping (as usual) but I made it through!  And I'm DONE my workouts for the week!  YAAAYYYY!!

February 2, 2011
I'm up to date again.  I've started logging my fitness time on sparkpeople.com today too.  I'm looking forward to using that as a big time motivational tool!  I had to burn 15 more calories on that to stay on goal so I added the limber up routine at the end of the day.  I also made a short term goal on there to start walking the dog once a day.  Forest and I went out into the 30 degree night and did 4 circles going 4 houses down in one direction and 4 in the other.  After the first one I ran half the way to see how it felt, it wasn't so bad and it kept Forest's attention way better than the walking.  Who knew my dog would push me on too?  Things keep looking better and better!

February 1, 2011
Again with the can't get out of bed thing.  This may be leading to late nights, but I went to bed early the night before.  I was up and getting dressed around 620AM for my workout, but it just isn't enough time.  The workouts are over 30 minutes now, not the 25 like they used to be before, but I did it and sacrificed the time it takes to put on eyeliner.  I went to work eyeliner-less, but did I mention I did mountain climbers in this workout?  I freaking hate mountain climbers.  If anything in this world makes me feel like a fat ass, it's them!

January 31, 2011
Just when I thought I was in good cahoots with waking up, I totally slept through my phone alarm today.  I woke up at 627 AM and barely had enough time to get it started and make it to work in time.  But I did it anyway sacrificing the few minutes it takes me to straighten my hair.  I got my work out done and went to work with "scrunched" hair.  Yes, I looked like crap, but look at those calories I burned :)

January 29 - 30, 2011
The weekend I rested and hung out with TomTom.

January 28, 2011
I woke up this day... and didn't have to!  It was a rest day!  I had already done my four workouts for the week, but I'm in the habit of getting up and doing it now... so I worked it out with some low key stuff.

January 27, 2011
It's been awhile since I've updated this page.  It is 2/2/11 and I don't remember anything extraordinary about this morning, other than the fact that I woke up and worked out... Hoooorah!

January 26, 2011
This morning I woke up at 430AM thinking I overslept and didn't have enough time for my workout.  I put on my glasses, looked over at the clock and was like bummer!  What the hell am I doing awake?  I took off my glasses, got bundled up under my covers, and woke up again to my alarm at 6 AM.

January 25, 2011
I woke up and got 'er done!

January 24, 2011
I totally slept through the 6 AM alarm clock this morning and it set my whole day off key.

PM I picked up TomTom after work from his religion class, did homework, then went to the boyscout meeting.  After that, and getting him to bed, I completed my workout that I didn't complete in the morning.  This is when I realized I was supposed to workout Sunday and was already off schedule by one workout.

January 23, 2011
I took a rest today.  I thought it was a scheduled rest day, but when I tuned in Monday I had missed a workout.

January 22, 2011
I woke up around 10 AM and made breakfast for TomTom.  Then I let him watch the wonder of his mother huffing and puffing as she does her workout.  I made it to the end of Phase One!!!!!!!   Later that day we went for about two miles on the St Tammany Trace.  He rode his bike and I "attempted" to roller skate.  I had a few near misses and one fall.  My fall was accompanied by hysterical laughter as I fought to keep my balance.  Unfortunately, gravity got the best of me and I went down in nervous laughter.  I don't think anyone got to witness my fall from grace, my son didn't even turn to see if his mother was still alive.  When we got to the end of mile one I told TomTom my gluteus maximus felt abstractedness and I needed a break.  I had thoughts that it was probably easier to jog behind him.  Man!  The roller skates HURT my butt!  Finally we made it back to the car with my butt in tact.

January 21, 2011

It's finally Friday!  I took a rest here.

January 20, 2011
AM I woke up at 6 AM and completed the following workout.  It is easier getting through my workout knowing that once it is done in the morning I don't have to worry about it for the rest of the day.  Here's the summary:

January 19, 2011
AM I did it again!  I woke up early and worked out!  I'm amazed.  I find it is easier to roll out of bed and get it done knowing that it is done for the day.  It is a really nice feeling.  I am back on track with workouts that I can complete.  They aren't over challenging, but I am going to finish out phase 1 until I up the level to medium again.

PM  I am going to do the limber up routine before I go to bed.  I will have to update the chart the next time I put more info on here.

January 18, 2011
AM I don't know how, but I did it!  I woke up at 6 AM to complete my workout for the day.  I had to sneak into the front so I didn't wake Thomas up and quietly did my workout.  It was hard to get over the fact that I was up early and doing the workout, but I managed to make it through to the end.  It was quite uplifting when I realized that once it was done, I didn't have to do any other work out for the day.  I was done!

PM I patted myself on the back because I woke up early to work out and vegetated in front of the TV.

January 17, 2011
AM I woke up early to complete the limber up routine.

PM I didn't feel like doing anything tonight.  I stayed late visiting with family and got home knowing that if I worked out it would set me back on time and I would be up until midnight (like I am now).  But I did it anyway, just a milder version of it.  In the custom workouts section I completed the Low Impact workout.  It still had me sweating and burning calories, it was just a bit laid back without much jumping.  I jumped a few times in the Soccer Goalie exercise, but maybe three times tops.  I squatted so many times that I never imagined I could possibly squat any more.... and then there were more squats!  And those dang reverse crunches kill me EVERY time!  This time the reps went up to 20.  I made it through, but it feels like an act of God to get my legs back up to my chest when I am around rep 15.  I think I even cursed out the TV a few times.  I am going to try to wake up early tomorrow and complete the 90 day workout in the morning and get it out of the way.  Then before bed I can do the limber up routine for extra calorie burn.  If I am able to complete this task it will be a major event for me.  I NEVER wake up early for ANYTHING!  Doing the limber up routine in the morning has been a huge stretch for me.  Wish me luck!

January 16, 2011
I took a break today to spend time with TomTom out in Lafayette
January 15, 2011
AM I still couldn't get in the swing of things.

PM I did my workout and met my workout goal for the week.  I still didn't stitch the Velcro on my arm band so i had to put the heart monitor on really tight for it to ready correctly.  I have moved the intensity level back down to "easy"  so I was able to make it through the workout again without feeling like I was going to die.  My favorite exercise today was side lunges with balance.  I was able to use the balance board for this one.  I wore the leg band down a bit lower on my thigh and didn't have as many problems with the computer not counting my reps.

January 14, 2011
I didn't do anything this Friday :(
January 13, 2011
AM I woke up and completed the "Limber Up" routine this morning  with a constant theme of yawning during the 14 minute program.

PM I completed my trainer designed workout for tonight.  It took about 36 minutes and I burned about 220 calories.  The past couple of days it hasn't been as much fun working out as it was in the beginning.  For starters, the heart rate monitor wasn't reading my pulse.  I was running around the track on the game, dying in my real life living room, and my heart rate was at 80.  I had to readjust the monitor on my arm.  The Velcro piece that attaches to the soft fuzzy Velcro has started to come unstitched so I will have to repair that this weekend.  Then the trainer was not counting my reps for kick ups and mountain climbers.  This can be VERY frustrating when you are dying from putting tons of energy into your workout and your character isn't even moving on the screen.  Then you have to figure out what is wrong and complete the reps AGAIN as if you did not complete them.  I think I was wearing the leg strap too high up on my thigh.  I moved it down a little and did not seem to have any more problems with this issue.  My workouts have been KICKING MY BUTT this week!  Tonight TomTom was on the sofa reading his AR book to me while I worked out.  I told him I needed to hear him reading to me to keep me going, but there were a few times I thought I was either going to keel over or pass out.  I had changed my workout intensity up to "Medium" from "Easy".  It is quite depressing to think that I can't even keep up with medium, MEDIUM!  I've been working out for years, running, walking in the dead of summer heat while dodging and sprinting away from horse flies on the Trace!  I bit the bullet.  I admitted I've eaten one too many donuts in this lifetime and changed it back to "Easy".  I don't want to get discouraged and stop doing it because it is too hard.  I'll truck on at the easy level and at the end of phase 1 maybe I'll kick it back up to medium.  Here are my stats for the day.

January 12. 2011
AM Still on the nuttin' train.

PM I completed my trainer designed workout for tonight.  It took about 35 minutes and I burned about 260 calories.

January 11, 2011
AM I woke up early and completed the "Limber Up" workout, burned about 40 calories.

PM I didn't do nuttin'.  I have a million excuses I could feed you, but I'll just skip that part.

January 10, 2011:
AM I woke up early and completed the "Limber Up" workout, burned about 40 calories.

PM I created a custom workout and completed it tonight.  Trying to kick up the calorie burn for my two-week goal I set for myself.  I managed to complete it being that today was a rest day and burned about 305 calories tonight.  The Mountain Climbers kicked my butt!  I also did two long follow-the-leaders and it wasn't reading my fast kick ups correctly, or maybe I wasn't kicking my butt high or hard enough because I was exhausted.  But a pat on the back for myself because I made it thru to the end!!
